UNDER 23 WORLD CHAMPION in 2007. Emma became the fastest junior woman in the world when she won the single at the World Rowing Junior Championships in Brandenburg. That same year she also competed at the World Rowing Under-23 Championships finishing an outstanding fourth.

This year she went even better and won that title, and booked herself a place in Munich where she excelled to make the A Final and qualify for the Olympic Games in Beijing. Not only that, she won the Halberg Emerging Talent Award in 2008.

In 2008 on the water she enjoyed a full elite season which culminated in her first Olympic appearence. After competitive performances in Munich, Lucerne and Poznan she eventually finished ninth in Beijing, leaving the regatta disappointed, but determined to bounce back and take on and beat her older, more experienced opponents.
